Terms of Service

Agreement

These terms apply to the Reading Journey apps, the web app at readingjourney.app, and their supporting services, including your account, library sync, and the assistant connector at mcp.readingjourney.app (together, "Reading Journey"). Reading Journey is provided by Vinh P. Dinh. By using Reading Journey you agree to these terms. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.

If you downloaded the app from the App Store or Google Play, that store's terms also apply to the download and to purchases. If these terms and a store's mandatory terms conflict, the store's terms apply to the extent required.

Your account

You can use the app without an account. Some features, including sync, backups and the assistant connector, need one. Give accurate information, keep your sign-in details secure, and tell us if you believe someone else has access to your account. You are responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account in the app at any time.

Plus subscriptions

Reading Journey Plus is sold through the App Store or Google Play. The store processes payment, renewal and cancellation, and its refund rules apply. Prices and included features are shown before you buy. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in your store account settings.

Assistant connector

You can connect an AI assistant, such as ChatGPT or Claude, to your Reading Journey account. Connecting one is optional. Once you allow access, the assistant can read and change your library on your behalf, as described on the consent page and in the privacy policy.

• The assistant is provided by another company under its own terms. We do not control what it says or how it interprets your requests, and its answers may be wrong.
• We carry out the requests the assistant sends for your account. Check important changes in the app, and remove the connection in the assistant if you no longer want it to act for you.
• Book details and covers an assistant finds on the web come from third-party sources. They may be incomplete or inaccurate.
• If you ask the assistant to send feedback, it is delivered to our team together with your account identifier so that we can follow up.

Acceptable use

Do not use Reading Journey to break the law or infringe others' rights, to upload content you have no right to share, to access accounts or data that are not yours, to interfere with or overload our services, or to scrape, resell or reverse engineer them except where the law allows it. We may limit requests to keep the service reliable.

Your content

Your notes, reviews, journal entries, photos and library remain yours. You give us permission to store, process and display them only as needed to provide Reading Journey to you, including sync, backups and the assistant connector you choose to use. Book information such as titles, descriptions and covers comes from publishers and other third parties and belongs to them.

Changes and availability

We work to keep Reading Journey available and your data safe, but we cannot promise uninterrupted service. We may change, add or remove features. If we discontinue a service that stores your data, we will give reasonable notice and a way to export your library where possible.

We may suspend or end access for accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms. You can stop using Reading Journey and delete your account at any time.

Liability

Reading Journey is provided as it is and as available. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and where mandatory law provides otherwise, such as under product liability law. For slight negligence we are liable only for breaches of essential obligations, limited to the damage that is typical and foreseeable. Otherwise our liability is excluded. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.

Law and changes to these terms

German law applies, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection in the country where you live. We update these terms when our services change and show the update date above. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
